The Active Life of LaGrange features a 6,100 sq. ft. fitness facility that was opened to the public on July 21, 2009. With an uncompromising dedication to the health and wellness of older adults in Troup County (ages 55+), it features a 3,000 sq. ft. open room for fitness classes, dance activities, and health seminars. This large room, which can accommodate up to 200 people, may be subdivided into three smaller rooms.

The fitness facility is fully equipped with a state-of-the-art sound system with wireless microphones, multimedia projectors, and electric screens that descend from the ceiling, along with wireless internet available to the public. An adjoining fitness machine room is equipped with exercise equipment (especially suited for older adults) and two sizable televisions. The facility also offers a living room area near the main entrance that is equipped with sizable televisions. The Wellness Center features a volunteer-ran healthy snack and drink bar available at low costs to participants. With a fitness counseling office, large restrooms, and spacious storage rooms, this building is ready to adapt to the changing needs of older adults for many years to come.

Dance Fit: Dance fit is a full-body fitness class with a dance element, using easy to follow routines to upbeat music. Dance Fit is taught by Miranda Douglas on Tuesdays at 9:30AM and on Fridays at 10:45AM.

Line Dance: Please join us for free line dancing classes! We offer beginner, intermediate, and advanced style classes during the week. Classes on Thursday are open to adults of all ages. Please see below for more information or call The Active Life at 706-883-1681.

Ballroom Dance: Please join us for 5 weeks of ballroom dance lessons! This class is open to adults of all ages. It is held on Thursday evenings at 7:00PM in the Wellness Center. The cost is $100.00 per couple. Please contact Cody Foote for more information at 334-663-2408.

Saturday Night Dance: The Active Life hosts a Saturday Night Dance on the third Saturday of every month at 7:00PM in the Wellness Center. The cost is $5.00 per person. The event is open to adults of all ages.

Chair Volleyball game

Take charge of your health and improve your strength, balance, and mobility! Each low-impact session includes standing and seated exercises using resistance bands and light hand weights. This free class is suitable for all older adults (ages 55+). Please check with your doctor before beginning any new exercise program.

Chair Fitness is offered Monday with Jane Anderson, Tuesday with Pat Wyche,
& Thursday with Kay Scarborough from 10:30AM – 11:30AM in the Wellness Center.

Start your day right with a nice morning stretch taught by Margaret Ross-Williams. Joining this class will allow you to enjoy the benefits of increased blood flow, range of motion, improved posture, and reduced pain

Morning Stretch is offered Monday and Friday from 9:30 am – 10:30 am in the Wellness Center.

Pickle Ball is a fun and social sport! It combines many elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced player, you will enjoy this fast-paced game!

Pickle Ball volunteers are available to show you the ropes on the outdoor courts Thursday mornings. Outdoor courts are open anytime during the week. Indoor court is open on Monday from 2:15 pm – 4:00 pm in the Wellness Center. Paddles and balls are available for use.

hair Volleyball is a team sport consisting of two teams of six players who are separated by a net. This game is played with a beach ball and can be played at all abilities and activity levels. You will enjoy friendly competition and lots of laughter!

Chair volleyball is offered Wednesday and Friday from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm in the Wellness Center.

In Low Impact Aerobics, you will enjoy a series of movements designed to help improve balance, cardiovascular health, lung function, and coordination all while enjoying fun music. This is a 45-minute class that is a great way to start your day!

Low Impact Aerobics is taught by Lora Norrell on Wednesdays at 9:30 am.

This is a 40-minute gentle adaptive Yoga class for all levels of ability. Feel free to use blocks and chairs for extra support if you need it. This class is designed to help you feel strong, balanced, and improve your quality of life.

Yoga is taught by Teresa Kuhns and offered on Thursdays at 9:30AM.
